Պատերազմն ավարտելու համար ԱՄՆ-ն պետք է ավելի շատ ճնշում գործադրի Ռուսաստանի վրա, այլ ոչ թե Ուկրաինայի, Politico-ին տված հարցազրույցում հայտարարել է Ուկրաինայի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Զելենսկին: «Ես կարծում եմ և հավատում եմ, որ ամերիկացիներն իրոք ցանկանում են վերջ տալ այս պատերազմին: Հույս ունեմ, որ նրանք կօգնեն մեզ, բայց մեզ ավելի շատ ճնշում է պետք Ռուսաստանի վրա, այլ ոչ թե իմ», - ասել է Զելենսկին: Նրա խոսքով՝ ուկրաինացիները հոգնել են ավելի քան չորս տարի տևող ռազմական գործողություններից, սակայն պատրաստ չեն ընդունել Դոնբասը հանձնելու վերաբերյալ Ռուսաստանի պահանջները:

Ուկրաինայի առաջնորդը նաև խոստովանել է, որ ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը ճիշտ է, երբ ասում է, թե ինքը (Զելենսկին) «ատում է» Վլադիմիր Պուտինին։ Սակայն, ինչպես նշել է Զելենսկին, խաղաղության հասնելու խնդիրը վեր է էմոցիաներից և Ռուսաստանի նախագահի նկատմամբ իր անձնական վերաբերմունքից։ «Ոչ ոք չի ասում, թե որևէ մեկը ընկերություն է անելու մյուսի հետ։ Ոչ մի ընկերություն։ Նա փորձեց օկուպացնել մեզ։ Մենք պատասխանեցինք և նա բազմաթիվ զինվորականներ կորցրեց։ Ուստի հասկանալի է նման վերաբերմունքը, բայց մեզ խաղաղություն է պետք։ Խաղաղությունը էմոցիոնալ բան չէ։ Ատելությունը էմոցիա է։ Խնդիրը անձնական վերաբերմունքի մեջ չէ։ Խնդիրը անհատների մեջ չէ»,- պարզաբանել է Ուկրաինայի նախագահը։ Նա հավելել է, որ խաղաղության պայմանագիրը «մարդկանց ապրելու հնարավորություն կտա»։

Անցյալ շաբաթ Թրամփը հայտարարել էր, որ Զելենսկին, իր կարծիքով, բավարար պատրաստակամություն չի ցուցաբերում Ռուսաստանի հետ պատերազմն ավարտելու համար և «խոչընդոտ» է խաղաղության ճանապարհին։ «Զելենսկին պետք է գործի անցնի և գործարք կնքի», — ասել է Սպիտակ տան ղեկավարը՝ հավելելով, որ ուկրաինացի առաջնորդը նախկինում էլ «հաղթաթղթեր չուներ», իսկ այժմ դրանք «էլ ավելի են քչացել»։ Միևնույն ժամանակ նա պնդել է, որ Պուտինը պատրաստ է ստորագրել խաղաղության համաձայնագիրը։ Նմանատիպ հայտարարություններ Թրամփն արել էր նաև նախկինում։
