Դոմինիկյան Հանրապետության իշխանությունները շաբաթ օրը հայտնել են, որ ԱՄՆ-ի հետ համատեղ իրականացված գործողության ընթացքում առգրավվել է մոտ 500 կիլոգրամ կոկաին՝ նավից, որը կանգնեցվել է տարածաշրջանում ԱՄՆ-ի ռազմական ներկայության զգալի աճի ֆոնին, հաղորդում է AFP-ն։

Ըստ Դոմինիկյան Հանրապետության Թմրամիջոցների վերահսկման ազգային վարչության (DNCD) հայտարարության, նավի կանգնեցումը իրականացվել է «ԱՄՆ-ի Հարավային հրամանատարության «Հարավային գեղարդ» գործողության շրջանակում»։ Վարչությունը հայտնել է, որ սերտորեն համագործակցել է ԱՄՆ Թմրամիջոցների դեմ պայքարի վարչության հետ՝ նավը կանգնեցնելու նպատակով։

«Գործող ստորաբաժանումները ծավալուն գործողություն են իրականացրել օդում, ծովում և ցամաքում՝ մի քանի անձանց ձերբակալելու համար, որոնք Դոմինիկյան Հանրապետության ափերին էին մոտենում նավով, որը տեղափոխում էր զգալի քանակությամբ թմրամիջոցներ», – նշվում է DNCD-ի հաղորդագրությունում։

Գործակալության տվյալներով, ձերբակալվել են Դոմինիկյան Հանրապետության երկու քաղաքացիներ, իսկ 27 ֆուտ երկարությամբ նավից, որը հագեցած է եղել երկու կախովի շարժիչով, առգրավվել է կոկաինի 484 փաթեթ՝ ընդհանուր մոտ 500 կիլոգրամ քաշով։

«Հարավային գեղարդ» գործողությունը, որը հինգշաբթի հայտարարել է ԱՄՆ պաշտպանության նախարար Փիթ Հեգսեթը, ներառված է Լատինական Ամերիկայում ռազմական նավերի և ինքնաթիռների տեղակայման ծրագրում՝ թմրամիջոցներ տեղափոխող նավերի դեմ պայքարելու նպատակով։ Ըստ Վաշինգտոնի, այդ նավերը պատկանում են «թմրանյութերի ահաբեկչական կարտելներին»։ Սակայն Վենեսուելայի առաջնորդ Նիկոլաս Մադուրոն մեղադրում է ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփին՝ Կարակասում կառավարության տապալման գործողություն նախապատրաստելու մեջ։

Սեպտեմբերից սկսած ԱՄՆ-ն տարածաշրջանում ռմբակոծել է ենթադրաբար թմրամիջոցներ տեղափոխող 21 նավ, ինչի հետևանքով զոհվել է առնվազն 80 մարդ։ ԱՄՆ-ն մեղադրում է Մադուրոյին՝ թմրանյութերի կարտելի ղեկավար լինելու մեջ և նրան բռնելու համար առաջարկում է 50 միլիոն դոլար պարգև։

Ուրբաթ օրը ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը հայտարարել է, որ «ինչ–որ չափով» որոշել է իր հետագա քայլերը Վենեսուելայի հարցում, սակայն հրաժարվել է ներկայացնել մանրամասները։
