Իսրայելի վարչապետ Բենիամին Նեթանյահուն պլանավորում է գրավել ամբողջ Գազայի հատվածը և նման հրաման է տվել բանակին, գրում է Bild-ը՝ իսրայելական Jerusalem Post և Channel 12-ին հղումով:

Ներկայումս պաղեստինյան ՀԱՄԱՍ շարժումը վերահսկում է Գազայի հատվածի տարածքի մոտ 25%-ը: Ըստ Jerusalem Post-ի՝ առաջիկա ռազմական գործողության հիմնական ուշադրությունը կկենտրոնացվի այն տարածքների վրա, որտեղ կարող են իսրայելցի պատանդներ պահվել:

Channel 12-ը X-ում հրապարակման մեջ մեջբերել է իր քաղաքական լրագրող Ամիտ Սեհգալին, որը հղում է կատարել կառավարության բարձրագույն շրջանակների աղբյուրներին. «Որոշումը կայացված է. մենք կգրավենք Գազայի հատվածը։ Հակառակ դեպքում, պատանդները կմահանան սովից, իսկ Գազան կմնա ՀԱՄԱՍ-ի իշխանության տակ»։

Առանց ՀԱՄԱՍ-ի լիակատար կապիտուլյացիայի, աղբյուրների փոխանցմամբ, մյուս պատանդների ազատ արձակումը հնարավոր չէ։ Նեթանյահուն ինքը, ըստ լրատվամիջոցների հաղորդագրությունների, ձևակերպել է երեք հիմնական նպատակ՝ ՀԱՄԱՍ-ի ռազմական պարտություն, բոլոր պատանդների վերադարձ, Իսրայելի համար Գազայի հատվածից բխող սպառնալիքի երկարաժամկետ վերացում:

Գլխավոր շտաբի պետ Էյալ Զամիրը, ըստ նրա գրասենյակի հայտարարության, Նեթանյահուին ասել է, որ կամ կիրականացնի ծրագիրը, կամ «կհրաժարական տա»։
