Խառը մարտարվեստների աստղ Քոնոր ՄաքԳրեգորին Սուրբ Պատրիկի օրվա կապակցությամբ ընդունել են Սպիտակ տանը։ Մարտիկը կնոջ և 4 երեխաների հետ հանդիպել է ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփին՝ ընդգծելով, որ վերջինիս օրինակը ոգեշնչող է:

Ինչպես նշում է  BBC-ն, մարտիկն այս առիթն օգտագործել է Իռլանդիայի կառավարությանը հրապարակավ քննադատելու համար: ՄաքԳրեգորը քննադատել է Իռլանդիայի կառավարությանը ներգաղթային քաղաքականության համար։ Նա ասել է, որ Իռլանդիան կանգնած է «իռլանդական էությունը կորցնելու» եզրին: MMA մարտիկն ընդգծել է, որ մտադիր է բարձրաձայնել Իռլանդիայի ժողովրդի առջև ծառացած խնդիրները, որոնք գործող իշխանություններն անտեսում են: Խոսքը, մասնավորապես ներգաղթի դեմ պայքարի մասին է:

«Այն, ինչ կատարվում է Իռլանդիայում, ծաղր է: Մեր գումարներ են ծախսվում օտար երկրներին առնչվող խնդիրների վրա, որոնք կապ չունեն իռլանդացիների հետ», - հավելել է նա։

Իռլանդիայի վարչապետ Մայքլ Մարտինը պատասխանել է, որ ՄաքԳրեգորի ասածները կեղծ են և չեն համապատասխանում Սուրբ Պատրիկի օրվա ոգուն, որը խորհրդանշում է միասնությունը, մարդասիրությունը և բարեկամությունն ամբողջ աշխարհում։

Իռլանդիայի փոխվարչապետ Սայմոն Հարիսը նույնպես արձագանքել է.«Նախագահ Թրամփը կարող է իր տուն հրավիրել ում ցանկանում է, և նա իրավունք ունի անել այն, ինչ ցանկանում է, երբ ինչ-որ մեկին հրավիրում է Սպիտակ տուն: Բայց թույլ տվեք հստակ ասել. Քոնոր ՄաքԳրեգորն ԱՄՆ-ում չի գտնվում՝ ներկայացնելու Իռլանդիան կամ Իռլանդիայի ժողովրդին»:
