Պուերտո Ռիկոյում ծնված և 5 տարեկանում ԱՄՆ տեղափոխված Ալեյշան ուսման հետ կապված դժվարություններ է ունեցել փոքր տարիքից: Նա պնդում է, որ դպրոցը և իր համար նշանակված հատուկ ուսուցիչն իրեն քիչ են օգնել սովորելու ընթացքում: Նա պահանջել է լրացուցիչ թեստ անցկացնել, ինչից հետո պարզվել է, որ աղջիկը գրեթե անգրագետ է:
