«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.

 Անընդհատ իրավաբանական հանրության կողմից բարձրաձայնվում է կալանքը որպես խափանման միջոց կիրառելու դեպքերի չարաշահման, հաճախ՝ կալանքը որպես պատժի միջոց կիրառելու դեպքերի մասին: Օրենքի պահանջը շատ պարզ է՝ այլ խափանման միջոցները պետք է գերակայեն, իսկ կալանքը պիտի լինի բացառություն, սակայն ներկայում Հայաստանում գործնականում ճիշտ հակառակ տրամաբանությունն է գործում:
 
Վերջերս պաշտոնապես հաստատվեց, որ Հայաստանում առկա է տնտեսական աճի տեմպերի նվազում, հարկահավաքի ցուցանիշների նվազում: Դրա պատճառների մասին տարբեր վարկածներ կարող են դիտարկվել, սակայն շատ փորձագետներ կարծում են, որ պատճառներից մեկը գործարարների նկատմամբ քրեական հետապնդումների, կալանքների թվի աճն է: Այդ մասին «Փաստի» հետ զրույցում ոչ մեկ անգամ ահազանգել են թե՛ տնտեսագետներ, թե՛ իրավաբաններ:
 
Ընդ որում, այդպիսի դեպքերի պակաս չկա: Այսպես, օրինակ՝ գործարար Կարեն Հակոբյանը կալանավորված է արդեն 60 օրից ավելի: Կարեն Հակոբյանը նախկինում որևէ արարքի համար չի հետապնդվել, միշտ ներկայացել է քննչականի պահանջով, չի թաքնվել, չի խոչընդոտել, բայց կալանավորված է: Դատարանները, չնայած նրան, որ ակնհայտորեն կալանքի երկարաձգման հիմքեր առկա չեն, պարզապես խուսափում են այլ խափանման միջոց կիրառելուց:
 
Պետք է նշել, որ Կարեն Հակոբյանը զբաղեցնում է օտարերկրյա ներդրում հանդիսացող «Մաքուր Երկաթ» գործարանի տնօրենը, այդ ընկերությունում աշխատում են հարյուրավոր մարդիկ, բայց նշվածը ևս պարզապես անտեսվում է:
 
Հակոբյանի փաստաբաններից տեղեկացանք, որ 2024 թվականի նոյեմբերի 19-ին Հակակոռուպցիոն դատարանի դատավոր Ս. Պետրոսյանի՝ Կարեն Հակոբյանի նկատմամբ կալանքը երկարաձգելու որոշման դեմ արդեն իսկ ներկայացվել է վերաքննիչ բողոք:
