Երևանում ստեղծված իրավիճակի հետ կապված՝ Սամվել Կարապետյանը երկու կողմերին կոչ է արել զերծ մնալ էսկալացիայից։

«Հաշվի առնելով այս օրերին Երևանում տիրող իրավիճակը՝ բոլոր կողմերին կոչ եմ անում զերծ մնալ ցանկացած  հռետորաբանությունից և գործողություններից, որոնք կարող են հանգեցնել մարդկային զոհերի։  Հաշվի առնելով երկրում առկա քաղաքական ճգնաժամը՝ կարևոր է պատասխանատվությամբ գործել, հարգանք ցուցաբերել միմյանց նկատմամբ և ձգտել երկխոսության և իրավիճակի խաղաղ հանգուցալուծման։  Կարծում եմ, որ հավաքական ջանքերով հնարավոր է հաղթահարել այս մարտահրավերը և ապահովել մեր երկրի բոլոր քաղաքացիների անվտանգությունն ու կայունությունը՝ առանց որևէ չափանիշով նրանց բաժանելու։ Սա առաջնահերթ, գերակա նպատակ է»,- ընդգծում է նա։

«Այսօր հաճախ ենք ականատես լինում մեր ժողովրդին «հայաստանցիների» և «արցախցիների» միջև բաժանմանը։ Հայ ժողովուրդը միասնական է, և մեր ընդհանուր հայրենիքում տեղի ունեցող բոլոր իրադարձությունները առնչվում են բոլորիս։ Ստեղծված իրավիճակում ցանկացած պառակտում վտանգավոր է»,- նշել է Կարապետյանը։

Բացի այդ, Կարապետյանն ընդգծել է եկեղեցու՝ որպես ազգային արժեհամակարգի կարևորագույն ինստիտուտներից մեկի կարևոր դերը։ «Դարեր շարունակ եկեղեցու շնորհիվ պահպանվել է մեր ժողովրդի ինքնությունը, նրա ֆիզիկական գոյությունը։ Հայ ժողովուրդը միշտ կանգնած է եղել եկեղեցու կողքին, և այսօր, առավել քան երբևէ, պետք է համախմբվել հոգևոր արժեքների շուրջ և կանխել առճակատումն ու  ժողովրդի՝ եկեղեցուց տարանջատումը»։
