Եվրամիությունն ընդլայնվում է դեպի Արևելք՝ լրջորեն վտանգելով Ռուսաստանի շահերը։ Նախօրեին Եվրամության պետությունների ղեկավարները Բրյուսելում կայացած գագաթնաժողովում որոշել են Վրաստանին տրամադրել թեկնածու երկրի կարգավիճակ, իսկ Ուկրաինայի և Մոլդովայի հետ բանակցություններ սկսել Եվրամիությանն անդամակցելու շուրջ։
 
Առայժմ միայն Հունգարիան է, որը դեմ է հանդես գալիս Ուկրաինայի անդամակցությանը, սակայն չի բացառվում, որ Եվրամիության առաջնորդներին հաջողվի պատժամիջոցների, կամ այլ սպառնալիքների միջոցով կոտրել Հունգարիայի դիմադրությունը։ Կոնկրետ Վրաստանին Եվրամիությունն անդամակցության թեկնածություն տալու որևէ առիթ չուներ։
 
Տևական ժամանակ Եվրամիության պաշտոնատար անձինք նշում են, որ այդ երկիրը բոլորովին չի համապատասխանում, սակայն որոշում է կայացվել հենց քաղաքական նկատառումներով տրամադրել կարգավիճակը՝ այդ կերպ Վրաստանին պահելով Արևմուտք ծիրի մեջ։ Վրաստանի գործող իշխանություններին պարբերաբար մեղադրում են ռուսամետ դիրքորոշումներ ունենալու մեջ, ուստի և Եվրամիությունում լուրջ մտավախություններ ունեին, որ եթե անդամության թեկնածուի կարգավիճակը չտրամադրեն, ապա Թբիլիսին կարող է թեքվել դեպի Մոսկվա։
 
Հայաստանի արտգործնախարար Արարատ Միրզոյանը շնորհավորել է Վրաստանի, Ուկրաինայի և Մոլդովայի արտգործնախարարներին և երեք երկրների ժողովուրդներին՝ Եվրամիության կայացրած որոշումների առնչությամբ։ «Սա պատմական օր է եվրոպական ընտանիքի և դեմոկրատական սկզբունքները կիսողների համար»,- գրել է Միրզոյանը։
 
Հայկական կողմը, ըստ էության, ինքն էլ ընտրել է դեպի Արևմուտք իր վեկտորը փոխելու քաղաքականությունը, իսկ Եվրամիության Արևելյան գործընկերության քաղաքականության շրջանակներում, Հայաստանին զգալի նյութական և քաղաքական աջակցություն է տրամադրվում։ Այս ամենն իհարկե արվում է ընդդեմ Մոսկվայի՝ հաշվի առնելով Ուկրաինայում ընթացող պատերազմը, ինչպես նաև Մոսկվայի բավականին բարդ իրավիճակը, Արևմուտքը ցանկանում է ամեն գնով Հարավային Կովկասը հանել Ռուսաստանի ազդեցության գոտուց։ Հայաստանի իշխանություններն էլ հաճույքով խաղում են Արևմտյան խաղը՝ ամենևին չմտահոգվելով, թե դա ինչ հետևանքներ կարող է ունենալ Հայաստանի համար։ Առավել ևս, որ վերջին օրերին ռուսական մի շարք պաշտոնական շրջանակներից արդեն ակնհայտ սպառնալիքներ են հնչում Հայաստանի հասցեին։
