Արևային վահանակների գները տապալվել են պատմական նվազագույնի։ Դեռևս վերջերս, իսկ ավելի հստակ 10 տարի առաջ, արևային գեներացիան էներգիայի ամենաթանկարժեք աղբյուրն էր, սակայն բազմաթիվ մշակողների, հետազոտողների ահռելի թվի աշխատանքն իզուր չանցավ, արևային վահանակները դարձել են գեներացիայի ամենաէժան տեսակը, նաև ավելացել է արևային վահանակների օգտակար գործողության գործակիցն ու շահագործման ժամկետը։

Մասնավորապես Եվրոպայում քննարկվում է արևային վահանկների աշխատանքի ժամկետը մինչև 40 տարի դարձնելու գաղափարը։ Այն մասին, թե ինչ տեմպերով է աճում արևային վահանակների արտադրությունը, նույնիսկ ասել չարժե, դա տեսանելի է անզեն աչքով։ Այդ ամենը հանգեցրել է արևային վահանակների գների նվազման, 0.25 դոլար մեկ վատի համար, իսկ ամենացածր գինը արձանագրվել է «Ինտեր սոլար Ամերիկա» ցուցահանդեսի ժամանակ կայացած աճուրդներում՝ 0,13 դոլար 1 վատի համար։ Դա նշանակում է, որ նոր արևային էլեկտրակայանների շահագործումը շատ ավելի էժան կնստի, իսկ աշխարհին սպասվում է արևային էներգիայի զարգացում կանխատեսվող 400 գեգավատից ավելի։
