3dnews.ru-ն գրում է, որ SolarBotanic Trees-ը ներկայացրել է 7 մետրանոց ծածկով մետաղական ծառեր, որոնք կորսան արեգակնային էներգիան նանոֆոտովալտայիկ «տերևների» միջոցով և կպահեն այն մարտկոցի մեջ, որը տեղադրված է ծառի բնում: Ենթադրվում է, որ կուտակված էլեկտրաէներգիան կօգտագործվի էլեկտրական մեքենաների լիցքավորման համար։ Ընկերությունը վերջերս է ավարտել նախնական նախատիպը և այժմ փորձում է ստեղծել և փորձարկել դրա ամբողջական չափսի տարբերակը: Ծառերի կոմերցիոն արտադրությունը նախատեսվում է սկսել տարեվերջին։

Ակնկալվում է, որ մեկ SolarBotanic ծառի արժեքը կկազմի 18,000-ից մինչև 25,000 ֆունտ (22,000-30,000 դոլար), ինչը զգալիորեն ավելին է, քան սովորական արևային մարտկոցները: Ծառից լիցքավորման հզորությունը կկազմի հինգ կիլովատ, ինչը բնորոշ է ստանդարտ լիցքավորման կայանին։ Այդ հզորությամբ 50 կիլովատանոց մարտկոցով ավտոմեքենայի լիցքավորումը մինչև 20-ից 80% կպահանջի գրեթե յոթ ժամ։ «Լիցքավորման արագությունն ավելի հարմար է այն դեպքում, երբ մեքենան երկար ժամանակ է կանգնում», — ասում է ընկերության փոխադրումների ծրագրի ղեկավար Ռեյչել Սվիատեկը: Ստարտափը նախատեսում է նաև մշակել ծառի ավելի կոմպակտ և մատչելի 3,2 կՎտ-ոց տարբերակ, որը կարժենա 10,000-ից մինչև 15,000 ֆունտ (12,000-18,000 դոլար): Այդ մոդելը հարմար է համալսարանների, առևտրի կենտրոնների և այլ վայրերի համար:

Յուրաքանչյուր ծառ կստանա վերահսկվող էներգիայի պահպանման և էներգիայի կառավարման համակարգ, որը կմիավորի բազմաթիվ ծառեր տեղական միկրոցանցերում կամ ծառը կմիացնի հանրային ցանցին, որպեսզի արտադրված ավելորդ էներգիան կարողանա վերադառնալ ցանց: Նաև ծառը միանալով էլեկտրացանցին կկարողանա էներգիա տալ գիշերը կամ ձմռան մութ օրերին, երբ արևի լույս չկա։ Ցանցից կախվածությունը նվազեցնելու համար ստարտափը նախատեսում է ինտեգրել մարտկոցային համակարգ ծառի բնի մեջ, որպեսզի օրվա ընթացքում ավելորդ էներգիան խնայվի գիշերը օգտագործելու համար:

SolarBotanic Trees-ն արդեն հավաքել է 340,000 ֆունտ (420,000 դոլար) և պատրաստվում է ֆինանսավորման փուլ սկսել տարեվերջին նախատիպի փորձարկումից հետո: Մինչև 2025 թվականը ընկերությունը ցանկանում է տարեկան ստեղծել առնվազը 1000 ծառ։ Առաջին արևային ծառերը կտեղադրվեն Մեծ Բրիտանիայում, որին հաջորդելու են Եվրոպան և Հյուսիսային Ամերիկան:
