Անկախության 30 տարիների ընթացքում մեր պետական օրգանիզմի քաղցկեղն է եղել նյութապաշտությունը՝ բոլոր մակարդակներով։

«ԱՐԱՐ» հիմնադրամի համահիմնադիր, հասարակական-քաղաքական գործիչ Ավետիք Չալաբյանն է այս արձանագրումն արել ամիսներ առաջ, իր հոդվածաշարում։ Նրա խոսքով, խոպան գնացող, սեփական երկրի մասին արհամարհանքով արտահայտվող սևագործ բանվորից սկսած մինչև պետության առաջին դեմքեր, մեր մեջ խորապես արմատացել է նյութապաշտությունը, սեփական նեղ նյութական շահի գերադասումը հանրային շահի նկատմամբ, սեփական հայրենիքի, և արդյունքում նաև սեփական կյանքի նկատմամբ սպառողական վերաբերմունքը: Այն ներթափանցել ու այլասերել է նաև պետական վերնախավի մեծ մասը։

Չալաբյանի խոսքով, դեռ Նժդեհն է ասել, որ ազգի համար չկա ավելի մեծ չարիք, քան նյութապաշտ առաջնորդը։ «Եթե մենք ցանկանում ենք մեր պետությունը հանել ինքնիշխանության էրոզիայի և կորստի փակ շրջանից, պետք է կարողանանք ի վերջո հաղթահարել մեր մեջ արմատացած նյութապաշտությունը և փոխարինենք այն այնպիսի արժեհամակարգով, որը նյութական բարիքից վեր է դասում մասնագիտական և հանրային ձեռքբերումները, մարդու բարի համբավը, նրա ներդրումը երկրի զարգացման մեջ, կամ էլ շարունակաբար կատարած բարեգործությունը։ Զարգացած արևմտյան հասարակություններում սա համատարած երևույթ է, միայն այդպես է կապիտալի կուտակումը անհատի կողմից հավասարակշռվում նրա կողմից իսկ հանրային օգուտ տալու համարժեք մեխանիզմներով։ Եթե մենք ցանկանում ենք, որ մեզ մոտ էլ սա դառնա իրական, պետք է սկսենք նրանից, որ խոսենք այսպիսի արժեհամակարգի անհրաժեշտության մասին, և յուրաքանչյուրս մեր գործողություններով այս արժեհամակարգի տարրերը տարածենք մեր շրջապատում»,- նշել է հասարակական-քաղաքական գործիչն ու հավելել, եթե մենք ստեղծում ենք կառույցներ՝ կլինի դա ձեռնարկատիրական, հանրային, թե կրթական, հիմքում պետք է դրվեն այսպիսի արժեքները, և մենք դրանց պետք է հետևենք նաև մեր ամենօրյա գործունեության մեջ։

«Որպես հետևանք՝ մեր երկրի քաղաքական վերնախավը պետք է ևս ձևավորվի նույն սկզբունքով: Ի սկզբանե քաղաքական գործունեության համար պետք է ներգրավեն այն անձինք, որոնք ընդգծված գաղափարական մղումներ ունեն և սեփական քաղաքական հավակնություններին ստորադասում են նյութական բարեկեցությունը։ Որպեսզի սա տեղի ունենա, հանրությունը պետք է խիստ պահանջներ ներկայացնի ապագա քաղաքական գործիչներին, քննի նրանց գործունեությունը, վերլուծի նրանց անցած ուղին և բնական ֆիլտրացիայի ենթարկի այն անձանց, որոնք գերադասում են սեփական նյութական շահը ու անձնական բարեկեցությունը՝ նրանց դուրս մղելով քաղաքականությունից մարդկային կենսագործունեության այնպիսի ոլորտներ, որտեղ նյութական շահ հետապնդելը ավելի բնական է և պակաս վնասակար»,- արձանագրել էր Չալաբյանը։
