ԱՄՆ նախագահի ազգային անվտանգության նախկին խորհրդական Ջոն Բոլթոնը հունիսի 23-ին կթողարկի այս պաշտոնում աշխատելու վերաբերյալ իր գիրքը՝ առանց նույնիսկ Սպիտակ տան պաշտոնական թույլտվության ստանալու, հայտնում է Washington Post-ը՝ վկայակոչելով իրազեկ աղբյուրներին: Բոլթոնի հուշերի գիրքը՝ «Սենյակը, որտեղ դա տեղի է ունեցել. Սպիտակ տան հուշեր» խորագրով, թողարկվելու էր մարտին, այնուհետև հայտարարվեց, որ հրատարակությունը հետաձգվում է մինչև մայիսի 12-ը: Դա պայմանավորված էր նրանով, որ գրքի նախագիծը ուղարկվել է Սպիտակ տուն՝ բովանդակային գաղտնի տեղեկատվություն պարունակելու ավանդական ստուգման համար: Հրապարակման համաձայն՝ հրատարակման պաշտոնական թույլտվությունը դեռ չի ստացվել, այնուամենայնիվ, Բոլթոնը մտադիր է ամեն դեպքում գիրքը տպագրության հանձնել հունիսի 23-ին: Հաղորդվում է, որ նա իր հիշողությունները խթանելու համար պլանավորել է հարցազրույցների շարք վարել հեռուստատեսությամբ, իսկ հրապարակման օրվան նախորդող հանգստյան օրերին նա նույն նպատակով մեկնելու է շրջագայության:
Ավելի վաղ հաղորդվել էր, որ Սպիտակ տան տեղեկատվական անվտանգության տնօրեն Էլեն Նայթը նամակ է գրել Բոլթոնի փաստաբաններին, որում նա նշել է, որ չհրապարակված գիրքը պարունակում է «զգալի քանակությամբ գաղտնի տեղեկատվություն»: Թերթը նախկինում հայտնել էր, որ Թրամփը հայտարարել է իր՝ ազգային անվտանգության նախկին խորհրդականի գրքի հրատարակումը կանխելու մտադրության մասին, քանի որ Բոլթոնին համարում է «դավաճան»: Բոլթոնը Ազգային անվտանգության խորհրդական էր ծառայել 2018-ի ապրիլից մինչև 2019-ի սեպտեմբեր: Ակնկալվում է, որ 592 էջանոց գրքում նկարագրվում է նախագահ Թրամփի կողմից որոշումների կայացման գործընթացը միջազգային քաղաքական մի շարք հարցերի, այդ թվում՝ Ուկրաինայի, Վենեսուելայի, Հյուսիսային Կորեայի և Իրանի վերաբերյալ:
